With my visa for Australia clearing yesterday, I estimate that my 2010 consumption for Roll Up The Rim will be a depressing 25 cups total when I leave Thursday. On the bright side, I have an opportunity to take a really different Roll Up The Rim finale picture in Melbourne, so if you have any [...]

Please add tiny bottles of ketchup (tomato sauce) to the list of things that can easily amuse me. You can get one with your meal at the Art Central Bistro here in Calgary. Thanks Connie! Current Statistics: Record: 3 – 11 Spent: $22.26 Won: $6.66 Probability: 13.67% [RUTR 2010 Progress]

Went to the Wild About Flowers stall at the Calgary farmers market today to pick up some nice gerberas. The staff helped me arrange a unique horizontal vase, with four slots to accommodate flowers with shortened stems. Oh, and I won a coffee. Current Statistics: Record: 3 – 9 Spent: $19.08 Won: $6.66 Probability: 10.45% [...]

These three losing cups are taken over the new Centennial Place tower being constructed near Calgary, which started more than 3 years ago! In other news, it has become very tough to say “no” to a invitation to coffee during the Roll Up The Rim contest. However, as I was working on my third steeped [...]

I’ve been procrastinating on packing for an overseas work assignment for the next few months. Being unable to play Roll Up The Rim in Australia, after starting this annual tradition in 2005, is probably the saddest part of going overseas to work while the contest is on. Did you know that Australian money looks like [...]

Sweet! Two steeped teas in the morning and I’m far above the curve (for now)! In other unrelated news, Valve released a whole slew of images today that make me think that Steam, and a few Valve games including Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress 2 will be released and compatible natively with a Mac. [...]

Perhaps a better title: “The best way to win a Roll Up The Rim 2010 prize”! After skimming the rules on the 2010 Roll Up The Rim rules and also briefly comparing them to 2009, there are a few notable changes – some are good-to-know rebalancing numbers, and some may make you rethink your purchasing [...]

The Tim Hortons Roll Up The Rim contest starts today! In keeping with the 5-year-old tradition, I am beginning my assignment of taking pictures and recording statistics of all my cups! Last year was a subpar record of 4-60, so hopefully this year I am lucky enough to beat it. Having a fever and a [...]

With no more Tim Hortons Roll Up The Rim cups anywhere in Calgary anymore, now is probably a great time to put a pretty bow on this year’s contest results. This year’s 4 – 60 record was a particularly bad year, and rivals my historically worst year – in 2005 I had only won 3 [...]

Dad’s Birthday was a few days ago, and so I decided to give him something for his coffee addiction – a shiny Rancilio Rocky. Grinds wonderfully consistent. We’re not connoisseurs in coffee, but we will be soon. Ack, I’m missing two cups somewhere! Current Statistics: Record: 3 – 39 Spent: $66.80 Won: $7.47 Probability: 15.93% [...]
